Cisco Announces $41M Expansion in Midtown

The innovation center is a $41M investment that will bring 700 jobs to the metro area.

San, Jose, California-based tech company Cisco Systems today announced a major expansion in Midtown, where it will open an innovation center. The center will be located at Portman Holdings’ Coda building at Tech Square, whose other tenants include Keysight Technologies, Dematic, RIB Software and WeWork, among other tenants. Cisco plans to invest $47 million in its expansion and hire 700 employees in the Atlanta area over the next five years.

“Today we’re excited to announce that Cisco’s presence in Atlanta is growing,” said Cisco CFO Scott Herren at a press conference at Coda on Oct. 13. “Cisco has been part of the Georgia community for several years. We see this additional investment as an essential part of our continued commitment.”

The announcement event was attended by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp along with representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Invest Atlanta, Select Fulton, Georgia Tech, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Midtown Alliance and other organizations that work in the economic development arena.

Nearly 3,000 jobs have been announced for the greater Midtown area since the beginning of 2021. Other companies with recent major job announcements include FanDuel (900 jobs); MessageGears (100); Roadsync (100); and Visa (1,000).
