In addition to providing exceptional educational opportunities to the district's 24,000+ student population and thousands more across the region, these colleges and universities are helping to transform Midtown into a thriving hub of innovation. Led by Georgia Tech, and coupled with the growing presence at Emory University Hospital – Midtown, these two prestigious institutions are collectively fueling a thriving research and science arena. Their partnership has raised Atlanta's profile in the bioscience industry by developing the physical infrastructure and attracting the talent necessary to foster growth in the fields of healthcare and medical research. Further, Georgia Tech's leadership in technology incubation also fuels Midtown's place as a hotbed for start-up activity.
In keeping with the community's penchant for the creative, the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art Design (SCAD) is reinforcing Midtown's reputation as the "heart of the arts" with an extensive, technologically-advanced arts-based curriculum. A leader in arts education and career preparation, SCAD offers more degree programs and specialties than any other art and design university in the world.
Also calling Midtown home are Atlanta's John Marshall Law School, established n 1933, and Westwood College, offering the opportunity to earn more than 35 diplomas, with associate's and bachelor's degrees.
