Details

"The Wash" by Kelundra Smith is a new, homegrown play inspired by the Atlanta Washerwomen's Strike of 1881. Just weeks before the International Cotton Exposition swept into the city, these bold women took a stand, demanding the right to set their own wages. Delve into this intimate and often humorous story about ordinary women who fought the system and won. The play will be presented at Synchronicity Theatre in Midtown, June 7-30 and Impact Theatre at the Academy in Hapeville, July 10-28. This play is apart of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere program.
