Discover a World of Wonder in the Deep Blue Sea
By Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada

The Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia’s version of The Rainbow Fish included an original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister’s colorful story as well as two companion tales, Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Sea and Opposites.

The Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in the sea, whose scales shimmer with all of the colors of the rainbow. When he refuses to share one of his beautiful scales he is ignored by all of the other fish. Not understanding why, he goes to the wise octopus. She encourages him to share his scales and he reluctantly gives away all but one. Now, he is less beautiful, but he has new friends and is happy. In further adventures, The Rainbow Fish finds the courage to explore the deep sea. There, he discovers a new world with amazing sights and friendly creatures of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The deep sea is a wonderland that introduces the world of opposites.
