Celebrate Hip Hop History Month by taking a voyage to discover how Outkast transformed music using Futurism. Long before Musk and Bezos were heralded as “prophets,” Andre 3000 dropped the legendary line often called Andre’s prophecy – “The South Got Something to Say.”

Dr. Regina Bradley is the author of Chronicling Stankonia and a Harvard Hip Hop Alumni Fellow. She will lead the class to understand how Outkast created an alternate future where the South was Hip Hop’s center of gravity.

This event is one part lecture, one part listening party. You will:
- Listen to songs from Outkast’s discography
- Examine musical influences, lyrics and album visuals
- Discuss Afro-futurism as a liberatory Design practice
- Understand how Outkast employed Futurism modalities including imagined geographies, revised histories and alternate universes
- Identify the self-fulfilling elements of Outkast’s vision in terms of their musical and cultural impact

Registration is just $10 for MODA Members (or $15 for Future Members)
