Celebrate our current exhibition, Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture, by cross stitching your favorite Hip Hop lyrics in a workshop hosted by Nicole LaBranche!

Cross Stitch is a type of embroidery in which the needlework creates designs that appear pixelated. In recent years, cross-stitch has become a vehicle for craftivism (craft + activism), and is used to assert diverse identities and demand social change.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how cross stitch got to be subversive, the basics of cross-stitching, how to create a design to stitch, and how to make that design a reality. Bring your passion, and we’ll provide the hoops, needles, embroidery floss, and patterns for you to use.

This workshop is a great way to get acquainted with craftivism, learn to cross stitch (or practice skills you already have), create something brilliant, and make new friends! Join us whether you’re a beginner or experienced stitcher!

$25 for non-members | $20 for MODA members
This fee covers everything you need to create your own amazing cross stitch, plus admission to MODA’s current exhibition.
