Sound is crucial to the gaming experience. In addition to immersing players within a particular narrative, video game soundtracks create emotion, heighten tension, and effectively convey the gravity of situations players face within any game or level.

You might have already known this. But did you know that designing sound for video games is actually something that you can do yourself?

Join us on July 27th and design your own video game sounds in a hands-on workshop led by sound designer Travis Yeargans. No previous experience is required – just bring a laptop or a tablet and a free Scratch account!

MODA will provide light refreshments to enjoy while Travis talks about the importance of sound design for video games and provides a crash-course in using Scratch, an easy-to-use, intuitive, and free platform that will be our tool for the evening. Then, you’ll go to work and create your own audio effects for a Scratch video game! At the end of the workshop, we will showcase our sounds and debrief with a quick Q&A. Participants will leave with their new audio tracks and have the confidence to continue designing with this exciting medium!

This event is suitable for those aged 13+ , though we encourage parents to register and attend with teenagers younger than 16. Tickets are $20 for MODA Members at $25 for non-members.
