Family Dynamics is a family drama that offers a no-nonsense glimpse into the Lays family. Mae Belle Lays is in the middle stages of dementia and lives with her daughter, Tiffany and her partner Toni. She has called a meeting with her children, Tiffany, Paul and Eric to discuss her end-of-life wishes and financial affairs, “while she is still able to recall things.” The meeting takes an unexpected turn as old wounds surface between siblings to reveal unspoken truths, buried emotions and held secrets.
Premiering at Synchronicity Theatre on Friday and Saturday, July 22 & 23rd, 2022 at 7PM, Family Dynamics is an open-ended exploration of how life’s experiences and choices intersect our feelings and emotions; how honesty and transparency offers a greater opportunity for understanding and healing amongst family as we care for our aging parents and loved ones.
Content Advisory: While Family Dynamics centers around dementia and caring for our aging loved ones, it is a drama that uncovers many layers of family. In telling this story, there is frank conversation on the topics of sexuality, infertility, suppressed child abuse/trauma and substance abuse. This play contains mature subject matter and strong language.
