"A work of passion, violence, and grief." That's how one scholar described Mozart's Symphony No. 40. At the same time, Mozart packaged this emotional turbulence into a delightfully tuneful symphony in G minor. This week, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra pairs the famous work with a mysterious and otherworldly Mozart masterpiece, the Mass in C Minor. Artistry runs high as Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann welcomes a marvelous lineup of soloists to sing alongside the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, including Russian American soprano Erika Baikoff who is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program; mezzo-soprano Julia Lezhneva, who sings with "angelic beauty" (The New York Times), rising star Lunga Eric Hallam, and Met Opera regular Harold Wilson.
