Q: How long have you worked in Midtown?
A: I've worked in the district for six years in different commercial and residential property management roles. And I was lucky enough to get to live and work in Midtown for part of this time, which was great.
Q: What does your job entail at Granite Properties?
A: I love my job because no two days are the same. As Senior Property Manager, I oversee the office component and also the Master Association which includes the Mira apartment complex and the Kimpton Shane Hotel. The managers at all three properties work closely together. Some days, I'm focused on financial reporting, Other days, I'm preparing the building for inclement weather, or coordinating a tenant event. I never know what surprises the day will bring. That unpredictability is what makes it so exciting.
Q: Midtown Union has won several awards for its design. What has it been like to open the doors for one of the most iconic buildings in Atlanta?
A: This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, but also the most challenging. It's the first time I've ever opened a building. When you deliver a brand-new building, you're bringing an idea to life. More often, a property manager takes over an existing building. In those cases, it's more like a well-oiled machine, because it’s established. But with a new building, it can feel like you're starting from scratch. So to see how that has come together, the relationships we've created … it has truly been amazing.
Q: What are some of the unique features of this development?
A: I'd say it starts with amenities and technology. We have an amazing outdoor terrace overlooking Midtown, with one of the best views in the city. We have a state-of-the-art fitness center and conferencing facilities. Additionally, we're a mixed-use environment, that invites people to live, work, and play here. We also have an incredible team and customers in our building. When you step into Midtown Union, you're surrounded by people and talent that make Atlanta special.
Q: Talk about the team that you work with at Granite Properties.
A: It might sound cliche, but the team that I work with is truly the best part. Our administrative team, engineers, and team members that fill a variety of roles from security to janitorial to parking services are dedicated to providing excellent customer service. Our culture is built on collaboration, and the camaraderie that we share is unmatched.
Q: How do you interact with Midtown Alliance in your day-to-day?
A: I’m in touch with Midtown Alliance regularly, whether it's promoting community events to our building customers, collaborating on alternative transportation initiatives, or even seeking assistance for things like temporarily closing down a street for a private event. Midtown Alliance does such an amazing job of keeping its members informed, which is crucial so we can relay news and updates to our building customers.
Q: We're about to close out another great year. What are you most thankful for about Midtown?
A: I believe Midtown is the heartbeat of the city. The activity. The vibrancy. It’s a great experience every day. Midtown offers remarkable walkability, dining options, access to the arts, greenspaces, and so much more. There's just always something to do in the area, and it's easy to get here. Our customers enjoy working and being here, and that's something we're proud of.
Q: What are you most excited about that relates to Midtown as 2025 approaches?
A: I'm excited about the continued growth and enhancements in the area for everything. With all the new companies and residents moving to the neighborhood, this is an exciting time to be a part of Midtown Atlanta. And in 2025 we will have more retail and restaurants opening up that will add to the vibrant fabric of Midtown.
