The real estate industry is responsible for approximately 40% of all carbon emissions, making it one of the most significant contributors to climate change. Recent pressures from investors, regulators, and other shareholders have pushed the industry to uncover new technologies and methods to reduce the industry’s impact on the environment. The Inflation Reduction Act will help accelerate the transition given the incentives, investment, and code changes that will affect all types of buildings.

Join Atlanta Climate Tech as we dig into ways that local organizations are driving climate action in the built environment. We have pulled together a panel of leaders from across the industry who will share how their organizations are driving change in real estate:

Joey Shea, Manager, Mission Activation at Interface: Joey Shea joined Interface in 2018. As manager of mission activation and key account director, he relies on his background in the environmental nonprofit sector to share how Interface pursues business success and deep sustainability impact at the same time. Collaboration and collective impact are at the heart of Interface’s approach to Climate Take Back, the business plan to reverse global warming, and Joey’s job is to get as many people excited to take on the challenge as possible.
Kavin Manickaraj, Chief Data Scientist at Greenlink Analytics: Kavin Manickaraj is the Chief Data Scientist at Greenlink Analytics where he uses statistical methods and data storytelling to uncover the underlying issues at the nexus of energy and equity. He serves as the lead developer for ATHENIA (Greenlink’s primary energy forecasting and decarbonization tool) and conducts research on the responsible application of data models for social issues. He also serves as an expert in renewable energy systems, energy efficiency strategies for commercial buildings, and grid-level data.
Alicia Case, Southeast Region Lead, Sustainability at JLL: Alicia Case leads the sustainability team for the southeast with JLL’s Project and Development Services group based in Atlanta. She has over fourteen years of sustainability consulting and project management experience, focused on leveraging the bottom-line benefits of sustainability initiatives to achieve positive environmental impact. Alicia serves as a consultant and technical expert enabling companies to expand in the green building industry.
Tylesha Giddings, Technical Product Manager at Southface: As a technical manager, Tylesha performs both residential and commercial resource-efficiency audits as a part of the GoodUse and NEWE program at Southface. She also has her HERS rater certification and provides sustainability consulting and program management for multiple programs across Southface. She is a proud University of Georgia alumna, and when she is not cheering on the football team, she enjoys dancing and spending time with friends and family.
Atlanta Climate Tech would like to give special thanks to our venue partner Interface and event sponsor cove.tool for their support in making this event possible.
