Midtown Yoga and Dance Cardio: These Experts Want to Help You Move More
04/03/2025
Created by the American Heart Association, National Move More Month is about getting physically active for better health. If you enjoy physical activity, you’re more likely to stay active. And Midtown Alliance is making it easier for you to get started. We're partnering with fitness experts to offer free outdoor yoga and dance cardio classes. Meet your coaches.
Yoga Flow Brings Zen Feelings to Your Day

Midtown Alliance's free weekly Yoga Flow series in collaboration with Evolation Yoga started April 1. The classes are held in the 10th Street Park at the corner of 10th and Peachtree Streets. No experience is needed. All you need to bring is a yoga mat and a water bottle.
"We see this partnership as an awesome way to connect with community and share the practice of yoga," said Will Milne, co-owner of Evolation Yoga. "Yoga is about connecting with yourself and others to improve the world, one breath at a time."
Milne said teaching and practicing yoga outside in the heart of the Midtown is fun and inspiring, with fresh air and sunshine mixed in with the bustle of the city.
Wanna dance and get some cardio in?

Midtown Alliance is hosting a new series on the decked out plaza at the North Avenue MARTA Station for people to try out a mix of Zumba, Afrobeats, Hip Hop, soul and country line dancing, and more. Just like the yoga classes, beginners are welcome, and you don't need to bring anything but your legs.
Dawn Peck is a certified group fitness instructor and choreographer, working around the city to lead classes in Midtown, the Atlanta Beltline, and metro area YMCA centers.
"This is a wonderful and unique opportunity in the heart of the city to share the all-inclusive and cultural diversity vibe I promote in my classes," Peck said. "We do it with easy-to-follow energetic choreography, a variety of music genres and positive social interactions between all kinds of people."
Peck's brand of fun fitness on the outdoor dancefloor in this setting absorbs the energy of the surrounding fast-paced environment of the city. She says no two experiences are alike from one of her classes to the next. And people walking by get inspired to join in when they hear the music and encourage the participants to keep moving and enjoy the workout.
Need a pep talk to commit? Milne and Peck can help.
If you're sitting on the fence about coming to these free classes, Milne and Peck each have words of encouragement to offer about being part of the experiences they are creating.
"We want to share yoga in a way that makes it enjoyable and accessible for everyone, and it's free," said Milne about the yoga experience. "No one should feel excluded from connecting with themselves and improving their wellbeing. There’s always a way to adjust the practice to yourself, no matter your experience level or how you’re feeling that day."
Peck said, "When a participant makes the effort to attend class, they are sure to smile and are encouraged to move in a way that feels natural to them which makes them successful. We can change up any of the fitness moves so that it will appeal to all abilities, and you will feel confident in being a regular participant in the class."
Outdoor events are subject to cancellation/postponement for inclement weather. Be sure to check our social media channels for any updates regarding cancellations.
