Georgia Tech Staffers Rally for 2023 Biketober Win

12/07/2023

Georgia Tech won 1st place overall (2000+ staff) in the annual Biketober competition that celebrates biking in Atlanta. In all, more than 350 workplaces around the region took part and collectively rode more than 340K miles.

The staff at Georgia Tech got to hoist the inaugural Biketober trophy created locally by Tiny Doors ATL.

A big congrats to other winners in Midtown. Servidyne and Square - Atlanta placed 2nd in their respective employer categories. In Midtown, 48 workplaces took part in the Biketober challenge.

“Biketober is a celebration of metro Atlanta’s growing cycling community, and more riders are joining the campaign each year” said Midtown Alliance’s Rob Kelly.

“Here in Midtown, we’re creating a culture of cycling through new infrastructure, group rides and classes, and through citywide campaigns like Biketober that get more people on bikes.”

Biketober is an annual campaign throughout October to motivate riders of all experience levels through friendly competition. The challenge draws participation from workplaces and individuals who can team up with friends or colleagues, or ride solo, and log their bike trips to earn points and be entered to win prizes.

More than 2,600 people across metro Atlanta took part in the 2023 competition and collectively made more than 30K trips. This year’s Biketober celebration also featured a bike-themed community movie screening of ET and a local cycling happy hour at Larakin.
