Alison (Ali) Dohrman Bradway, Chief Administrative Officer at Invesco

The local address on the business stationery has changed a few times. But Invesco has been an integral part of Midtown Atlanta since 1978, the same year that Midtown Alliance was formed. Over an arc of nearly 50 years, Invesco has grown into a global financial services powerhouse. Today, the firm employs 8,400 professionals worldwide in 20 countries, serving clients in 120 countries.

Invesco recently moved within the district into the Midtown Union office building to establish its new global headquarters, the decision informed in part by mapping employee commutes to identify the most efficient central location. One of the execs leading that move was Invesco’s Chief Administrative Officer for their Legal and Compliance function Ali Bradway, who has worked for the company for more than two decades and also serves on Midtown Alliance’s board of directors. We spoke with Bradway recently about her career path, Midtown’s secret to success and the positive impact Invesco is having on the city. Keep reading:

Q: What’s your Atlanta story?
A: Growing up in Tuscaloosa Alabama, I always knew I wanted to move to the South’s largest city. I’ve lived in Atlanta since 1998, currently in the Virginia-Highlands neighborhood. My family and I consider Midtown a part of our collective ‘neighborhood’ and love the activity, restaurants and culture within the District. It’s especially unique how the nearby neighborhoods come together to paint this really beautiful Midtown Atlanta picture.

Q: How did you find a career at Invesco?
A: I knew asset management was going to be something that I would build my career around. I joined Invesco in 2002 as a business analyst after working for several years in private wealth management. Most of my career has been working within Invesco’s Human Resources team. In 2018, I shifted into my current role as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Legal Compliance Audit and Risk Functions at Invesco.

Q: Why did Invesco choose Midtown Atlanta for its office location?
A: Invesco chose Midtown Atlanta for our global headquarters because it sits in the heart of one of the region’s most vibrant business districts. This prime location offers access to a deep pool of skilled professionals, is near major institutions like Georgia Tech, and is surrounded by a thriving innovation scene. The area is well-connected, with easy transportation options, and boasts a dynamic blend of corporate, academic, and cultural resources. For us, it’s the perfect environment to fuel innovation, foster talent and stay deeply connected with other financial and tech leaders, driving both collaboration and growth.

Q: What is the culture like at Invesco?
A: Invesco’s culture thrives on collaboration, inclusion and constant evolution. Our diverse, global colleagues are encouraged to challenge the status quo and contribute fresh, innovative ideas. Growth and professional development are key, with ample opportunities for learning, leadership, and career advancement. Invesco also places a strong emphasis on work-life balance and well-being, creating a workplace where people feel energized, supported and motivated to excel.

Q: How does Invesco engage with the local community?
A: At Invesco, we are committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Through Invesco Cares, our employees engage in volunteering and skill-sharing with local nonprofits, with each office having a charitable giving budget to support causes they are passionate about. In Atlanta, we partner with organizations like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Junior Achievement, The Ronald McDonald House, The Piedmont Park Conservancy and of course the Midtown Alliance, while also sponsoring cultural institutions such as The Woodruff Center for the Arts, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and Georgia Tech.

Q: Talk about your role on the Midtown Alliance board.
A: I joined the board in 2019. I am the connection between both the Midtown Alliance and Invesco, as well as the rest of the board members. I think the level of engagement of our board members is one of the reasons Midtown Alliance is so special.

Q: In your view, what’s the secret to Midtown Alliance’s success in creating an excellent urban experience?
A: I believe there are three drivers: The first is having board members and staff who are passionate about Midtown Atlanta as a place where people love to live, work, play, stay. The second is the way that Midtown Alliance seamlessly integrates into the community and engages local perspectives. And the third is the way that the staff, board and member partners are always thinking outside the box and shaping a proactive and future-forward vision for Midtown Atlanta. It’s the constant generation and execution of big ideas that make Midtown Alliance so successful. It's hard to imagine what Midtown Atlanta would look like right now without the influence of Midtown Alliance. We are truly grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication that this important organization has for Midtown Atlanta.
