Ready to experience a fun Midtown tradition on football gamedays at Georgia Tech? Come for the pregame concerts featuring platinum recording artists. Stay for the food trucks and brews. It's the Helluva Block Party, a new tradition on football Saturdays in Midtown. The best part: the block party is an easy walk from the heart of Midtown ... and you don't need a ticket.

Saturdays in the South Are Built Around College Football

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football season has already begun. With two wins in its first two contests, Midtown's home team is off to a great start. And outside Bobby Dodd stadium, everybody can be part of the gameday atmosphere in one of the most vibrant areas of campus. The Georgia Tech Athletic Association hosts free pregame concerts in front of the Tech Tower Lawn featuring platinum recording artists. Here's what you need to know.

Free Concerts Before the Game

Chris Lane and Lauren Alaina are the scheduled performers for Helluva Block Party prior to Georgia Tech’s upcoming home contests versus VMI on Sept. 14 and Duke on Oct. 5, respectively.

Country music singer and songwriter Chris Lane has released three albums and charted seven singles on Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay, three of which went to No. 1 ("Fix", "I Don't Know About You", and "Big, Big Plans").

Rossville, Georgia native and country music star Lauren Alaina was the runner-up on the 10th season of American Idol and her 2017 album "Road Less Traveled" simultaneously topped five Billboard charts. She is a two-time CMT Music Award winner and the youngest member of the distinguished Grand Ole Opry.

Plan Your Fall Football Saturdays in Midtown

Tailgating at Helluva Block Party begins four hours before kickoff of every Georgia Tech home game. A three-block stretch of North Avenue – from Techwood Drive/Centennial Olympic Park Drive to Tech Parkway/Luckie Street – is temporarily closed to traffic on gamedays to accommodate the activities. Beyond the free concerts, you can also stroll through the block party to find food trucks and tailgating games, Yellow Jackets merch and more. The event series is sponsored by Hyundai.
